Hi everyone! Due to the storm, no reading log was sent home, and no spelling words were assigned. We will not have a quiz on Tuesday.
I did sent home as usual a math page for homework tonight. On Monday I will send home a single sheet of homework (subject may be math, vocabulary, reading skills, or social studies), and next Tuesday we will get back into the routine of reading logs and new spelling words.
Also, today I noticed several students turned in their reading logs and spelling but did not put their names on them.
I will review with students the importance of writing your name on your paper and the routine of turning in homework first thing in the day.
Just fyi, this is the homework routine. When student arrive they turn their homework in to the homework checker, who checks off on a checklist all the homeworks that have names on them and gives them to me, Then I double check making sure the checker did not miss any. Then, usually when the students are at their special in the morning, I put the missed homework slips in their mailboxes so you are aware if your child's homework did not get turned in (or not get turned in with their name on it) . I will leave the no name homeworks in the work to be fixed bin and students can check to see if theirs in there . If they turn in the homework late in the day because they forgot or find their no name paper later in the day and fix it, they still will have the missed homework slip in their mailbox and it is up to them when they check mail to show me so I can verify they can throw out the slip. If they do not, you might see a missed homework slip go home and your child will tell you what happened. We have discussed this as a class several times but I wanted you to know what the routine is.
So, if your child gets a missed homework slips, it could be because a) they indeed forgot their homework b)they turned their homework in late and didn't get the missed homework slip out of their mailbox and toss it out or c) they did not put their name on their homework and did not claim it as theirs during the day
If you get a missed homework note at any time and you have questions, let me know.
